Aleutian Islands photographs, 1957-1958.

The Aleutian Islands Photographs consist of 121 black-and-white photographs. Included in this collection are scenes of Nikolski village, Dutch Harbor, and the Umnak Island area. Also included are images of Rabbit Island, Russian Orthodox churches and grave sites, and the buildings and camp set up by the U.S. government in this area. The bulk of the photographs are of laundry and mess hall workers at the U.S. government camp outside of Nikolski village in the Aleutian Islands. These images show buildings, living quarters and working conditions during the building of the camp and radar site during the 1950s.
